Una organización que trabaja para el bienestar integral
We are a special family with eleven boys and girls of different ages. For various reasons, the juvenile court has ruled that they cannot live at home for the time being. Because no one is looking after them or because it is not safe or there is a lack of a healthy pedagogical climate. Together we have formed a new family and we are bound together by a love that goes beyond a blood bond. Together we build a dignified existence and a better future.
Together with a pedagogical team, we help fifty disadvantaged children with their homework and with extra educational support. We also organize cultural activities such as theatre, film, literature and creative workshops with handicrafts and crafts. In addition, we work with the parents of the children, so that the effects of good education and positive parenting are also implemented at home and have an effect within the community. In some cases we offer therapy to children, so that they learn to deal better with their feelings and learn to concentrate better, but also in the case of a mild disorder or learning delay.
In Calca many families find themselves in very precarious circumstances, despite the fact that they work very hard to improve their situation. Together with our team of professionals, we offer them a helping hand so that they can get started to improve their circumstances and create new opportunities. We actively work together on the development of families within seven living domains that contribute to the integral well-being of the families.
Responding to the economic problems in Calca that have been exacerbated in recent times by the pandemic, in 2020 we established a cooperative called Mujer Nueva (New Woman). This cooperative builds on the talents and skills of each of the 35 women who make up the organization. They produce, among other things, traditional bread and pasta with natural and healthy ingredients. At the same time, we guide them with training and therapies, both for them and for their relatives. Finally, they can be part of our literacy program.
Paypa is a word in Quechua that means ‘hers’ or ‘his’ and is the name of our program focused on entrepreneurship. Paypa was born from the desire of many women and men to develop or improve a micro-enterprise. Program participants are not ‘creditworthy’ to the financial system, as they have no collateral and cannot demonstrate that they have earned enough in the past. From Paypal we guide them with training, monitoring, advice and start-up loans. This way we can guarantee lasting success.
¨Mujer Nueva gives me hope for the future and I feel supported in life. It´s very nice to have the perspective of an economic well-being and to receive a lot of support in this regard.”
¨For me the Mujer Nueva project is good, I have learned to make bread; I always wanted to learn how to read and write; and now I´m learning. This project came at a good time, because I´m a single mother and my son has a disability. It´s because of him that I work hard to have a better life with him¨.
¨For us Pachachaca is a place to learn while playing. It´s a place where we can play with the other boys and girls of Calca. It´s also a place where we feel heard. Pachachaca is like a second family for us ¨
